Types of Groupage Moving Services

Depending on the geographical distance, access routes and mode of transport used to move your belongings between the origin and destination, groupage moving services can be divided into two types: sea groupage and road groupage.

Sea Groupage Moving Services

Sea groupage, or LCL (Less than Container Load), is a shipment transported in a shared container. The goods are normally packed in a wooden or cardboard crate (lift-van). Groupage shipping is particularly recommended in these cases because the moving company collects and packs your belongings and loads them into the container together with other customers’ boxes. This results in significant cost savings through shared transportation, while providing the same levels of security and reliability as a traditional move.

Road Groupage Moving Services

Road groupage moving services involve shared shipments transported together with other goods. Items can be palletised, packed in wooden or cardboard crates, or transported loose. The transport route is planned to optimise costs and delivery times as much as possible.
