For both residents and non-residents, the importation is subject to the vehicle having Spanish registration and the owner of the vehicle proving its ownership for at least 6 months.

To process the definitive importation of the vehicle, residents have a one-year term and the original documentation of the vehicle and the insurance must be in force. In the case of company cars, the purchase invoice and an authorization of the company must be provided to the employee who is using the vehicle together with the driver’s ID.

Foreign vehicles must make the change of documentation and Spanish registration at the nearest Traffic Delegation.
